It's 2019 and maybe you've set a goal to travel more this year. The world is literally your oyster and you have hundreds if not thousands of destinations you could travel to! So how do you decide? To me, the main things you should be looking for when trying to pick a destination are:
Cost You first need to set a budget for your trip, that can very quickly knock out several options.
Food and Cuisine Are you a picky eater that would struggle to find options that you like? Do research on the locations you are considering going to and see what kinds of cuisine they offer.
Safety The world can be a scary place but that shouldn't stop you from traveling! Make sure you do your research before going to any unfamiliar country and see if it is a place that you would feel safe or if there are any precautions you could take so that you feel more comfortable while on your trip.
Weather Iceland is beautiful but are you someone who hates the cold? Could you deal with temperatures in the 30's for your entire trip or are you wanting to go somewhere that is warm and 75 degrees?
Experience Are you hoping for a relaxing vacation or would you prefer to stay busy with activities? Do you want to spend your time shopping or would you rather do an outdoor excursion? If you are traveling with more than one person, try to make sure there is something that everyone could enjoy.
Now that we have gone over some ways to help you make your decision when choosing a travel location, let's look at some of the best options for 2019!
Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam. It is one of the most beautiful places you could travel to but it also is one of the most affordable. Phu Quoc has beautiful beaches that you have to see to believe. It is the perfect location to lay out and relax with the waves crashing in the background, the warm sun shining down and a drink in your hand.
Maybe sitting around relaxing isn't your style. That's fine! Phu Quoc offers many fun activities including snorkeling, kayaking and plenty of historical sites to keep you busy.
My favorite part of Phu Quoc is the spectacular bioluminescent plankton. What is that? Essentially, it is plankton in the ocean that has a beautiful glow. If you catch it at the right time of the year, you will feel like you are swimming through the stars.
